The Palais Royal is a spacious and beautifully restored 1 bedroom, with all the conveniences (TV, air conditioning, washer/dryer unit, high speed wireless access for your PC). The apartment is located on the rue Saint Honore, one of the more traditional shopping streets in central Paris. Directly across the street is the Eglise de l'Oratoire Church, which became the royal church for the French Kings in the nearby Louvre in the 1600s.
The apartment is located on the 1st floor (no elevator access, up one flight of stairs only). The apartment has an elegant bedroom which looks out onto the courtyard, with a new double bed, side tables and lamps. The bathroom has a good sized shower and was completely re-done in late 2007. There is a kitchen area off the hallway leading towards the main living/dining area. The kitchen is also new, and includes stove top electric burners, a small fridge, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee maker and all the kitchenware required for 2 to 5 persons.
The main living space has high ceilings and two large French windows (double paned windows) that lead to a balcony with 2 chairs and plants looking out onto rue Saint Honore. This main living space, with wooden flooring and traditional exposed ceiling beams, includes floor rugs, dining table and chairs for 4 persons, new sofa (that becomes a bed for 2), armchair, TV with cable (several English language channels) and a writing desk. There is also a large built in armoire area to store clothing and luggage.
Total surface size is 41 m (approx 450 sq. feet). Perfect for 1 to 4 persons, and can sleep up to 5 (5th person in single bed in mezzanine area off the hallway; best for teenager or young adult - ladder up to the small mezzanine area). Excellent central location, just minutes from the Louvre Museum, Seine River and the Palais Royal. This apartment is less than a 10 min. walk from our Les Halles 1 Bedroom and Louvre 1 Bedroom apartments as well as the Louvre 2 bedroom and Place des Victoires 2 bedroom apartments.
The closest metro stations are Louvre and Palais Royal(both metros are less than a 5 min. walk from the apartment building). The apartment is within walking distance of all major central Paris attractions.
Area
The Palais Royal One Bedroom is located in the most central district of Paris , the 1st Arrondissement.
This area is known for its cafes and art galleries, the Louvre Museum and gardens, Place Vendome, Place de la Concorde, the Seine River and traditional restaurants, antique and designer shops. The area also has several important churches, such as the Eglise de l'Oratoire just across the street from the apartment (church built in 1600s and it was the royal church for the Kings in the nearby Louvre palace) as well as colorful market streets. For those wishing to visit much of historic Paris on foot, this apartment is ideal.
Within two blocks of the apartment is the Palais Royal Garden (click for photo), which is open to the public.
From the apartment, the Louvre Museum is just one block away. The Seine River and the Islands (Notre Dame Cathedral) are just minutes beyond.
You will find lots of restaurants, shops and cafes on rue Saint Honore and the surrounding streets. The Marais district and the 6th district (Saint Germain/Left Bank area) are both easily accessible on foot (within 15 minutes).
The closest metros stations are the Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre and the Louvre stations, both a quick walk from the apartment (5 minutes).
