Description
This apartment was renovated and furnished in 2006, and is a comfortable two bedroom apartment, perfectly suited for a family or small group visiting central Paris.
This apartment is located one block away from Place des Victoires historic landmark, in the 1st Arrondissement (or district) of Paris and is in the building just next door to my Place des Victoires 2 bedroom apartment.
Housed within a typical 19th century Parisian apartment building, the Louvre 2 Bedroom apartment is situated on the European first floor (one flight of steps only; no elevator). The apartment faces both the street and courtyard; the street (Rue Herold) is small with little traffic and no noise problem. This apartment is quiet.
The apartment, at 47 square meters (approx. 512 sq. feet), is compact like most central apartments in Paris, but sufficiently large to accommodate 4 to 6 persons. There is an entryway with immediate access to both the bathroom (bath/shower, double sink, vanity and clothes washer/dryer machine) and the separate toilet room (which also includes a small sink and vanity). The entry also leads into the large living space, which is comprised of a newly installed kitchen area, with a built in dining table, and the living area.
The main living area includes the sofa (which converts to a double bed), two comfortable armchairs, small coffee table, large bookcase (with books on Paris), a built in armoire for storing clothes and luggage, cable TV. There is also a modem for cable access to high speed internet; just connect your PC with a USB cable or telephone jack cable for internet access.
The kitchen area includes four electric burners, a small fridge, a microwave, coffee maker, a toaster and complete kitchen necessities. There is a built-in kitchen/dining table that can sit 4 to 5 persons.
The bedrooms are off the living area and are compact but functional. One bedroom has a Queen bed along with a wall-sized armoire for clothes, and smaller dresser and nightstand. The second bedroom includes a queen bed which can also be made into just a single bed (and we can add a fold out bed so that there are 2 single beds in the 2nd bedroom). There is a larger dresser and nightstand in the second bedroom as well. All beds, including the sofa bed, are recent purchases and of good quality ensuring a good night’s rest.
There is an additional single fold out bed in the apartment that can be used to sleep a 7th person. We will make up the beds according to your request/the number in your party.
The apartment is very quaint with traditional high ceilings, original wood beams, and includes beige stone flooring from the Burgundy region of France, and large area rugs.
Area
This apartment is in the heart of the Paris - very close to Place des Victoires - an excellent location to take advantage of Paris on foot and to discover some of the quaintest, fashionable and most historic quarters of the French capital.
From the doorstep of the Louvre apartment, you are at the Louvre Museum in less than 10 minutes on foot, and also just 10 minutes away is the Seine River, where you can cross on foot to visit the Islands and Notre Dame. Also just minutes walk from the apartment is the Palais Royal gardens (great for kids), the covered shopping galleries (Vivienne/Colbert), the chic shopping street Rue Saint Honor and so much more. The Marais and Latin Quarter are around 15 minutes away on foot, as is the newly renovated Pompidou/Beaubourg Centre. All major attractions in the center of Paris are thus within walking distance.
Locals do all their shopping in the exciting Rue Montorgueil. pedestrian street filled with bakeries, butcher, fruit, vegetable and cheese shops, cafés and grocery stores. You can do all of your shopping on this lively street, as well as enjoy one of the many outdoor cafés or restaurants. This is a lively, safe, central area of the city with easy access to metro and train lines via the Chatelet-Les Halles metro station. This train station is also direct to Dinseyland, and thus convenient for families planning on taking a break at the Disneyland Park.
